Dash for Desktop (Mac and Windows)

With Dash for Desktop, access Dash from anywhere on your computer by tapping ‘Command + E’ or ‘Ctrl + E’ on your keyboard. You can change this keyboard shortcut setting to your own preference. Upcoming: You will soon be able to find local files that live on your computer, alongside all your other content.

How to install the desktop app

The current version of Dropbox Dash supports Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS 10.15 or higher.

  1. Visit dash.dropbox.com/download and click ‘Download’.
  2. In the top right of your browser window, click the .dmg file in the ‘Downloads’ section of your browser.
  3. Your computer will automatically open a window to move Dash into your applications. Drag the Dash icon into the Applications folder.
  4. Then, open the Applications folder by using Finder, your computer’s spotlight search or however you usually navigate to folders.
  5. Open Dash by double-clicking your downloaded file.
  6. Dash may take up to a minute to start up. If you already have an account and have apps connected, all your content will be synced and ready to use.

Dash Extension

The Dash extension enables you to quickly access Dash whenever you open a new tab in your browser. You will also be able to find and organize all your open and recently closed tabs, and quickly save links to your stacks.

How to add the Dash Extension

You can currently add the Dash extension on Chrome or Edge.

  1. Visit dash.dropbox.com/extension and click ‘Add to Chrome’ or ‘Add to Edge’.
  2. On the app store for the browser, again click ‘Add to Chrome’ or ‘Add to Edge’.
  3. When prompted with permissions, click ‘Add extension’
  4. Then, open Dash in a new tab.
  5. Your browser will ask if you want to keep Dash as a new page. Click ‘Keep it’ to start using Dash in the new tab.
